Dementia is an everchanging and ever evolving condition, but we believe this should not define the person and care should never be compromised.
We aim to provide the best home from home experience for your loved one and pride ourselves on getting to know each resident thoroughly to build positive relationships as well as create personalised care plans updated monthly and whenever needs change so staff can always know the best approaches and ways to care for your loved one.
Our staff are trained in high needs dementia care, which enables staff to have the correct knowledge and understanding of different levels of dementia. Our manager is qualified in Train the Trainer for dementia care so is able to provide additional guidance and support to staff in between their trainings if needed. She has also completed the Home Life programme which is a comprehensive year-long training to better support families and staff.
Our staff never fail to provide compassionate, person-centred care for each individual and their needs right up until their final days. At Glendale, we feel privileged to care for your loved one right up until their final day. We adapt to their needs and aim to make their final days as pain free and comfortable as possible and ensure we respect and adhere to any preferences and wishes, including Last Rites, from our resident and their family. Our Manager has an NCFE (National Certificate of Further Education) Level 3 qualification in End Of Life Care and all our staff are trained in in this area too to deliver and ensure a holistic approach is maintained.
We know residents are not always able to communicate in a way that most people would. This is one of the many reasons why it is important for our staff to undertake continuous training so they are able to recognise different signs, behaviours and non-verbal communication. It is also important to ensure communication with residents who are able to verbalise their thoughts, feelings, wants and needs is on a level which our residents can understand without a sense of being overwhelmed or overloaded with information.
Not all residents are able to verbalise their wants and needs so it is crucial for staff to interpret these and ensure to always act in the best interest of our residents. Wherever possible, we strive to promote choice, independence and purpose while still maintaining and ensuring the safety, privacy, dignity, respect and wellbeing of each resident.
